Multiple miliary osteoma cutis of the face, case report
Keywords:
Osteoma cutis, cutaneous ossification, face.Abstract
Multiple miliary osteoma cutis is a rare benign condition, characterized by skin bone formation. It is considered a variant of primary cutaneous ossification with unknown pathogenesis, although several hypotheses have been suggested, including the association to a chronic inflammatory process like acne, and a relationship with estrogen level, other cases are idiopathic. These lesions usually appear in the face, but other body areas such as upper chest, shoulders and back, can be affected. We report a case of a multiple miliary osteoma cutis of the face in a 64-year-old woman, a pattern of primary cutaneous ossification with few cases reported in the literature, with important aesthetic implications between patients.
