Abstract

One area that has felt the impact of the technological development of highresolution ultrasound is Dermatology. Currently, there are multiple indications in both benign and malignant pathology and their indications continue to grow day by day for the benefit of patients.
Ultrasound is not intended to replace the dermatologist's judicious clinical interpretation, nor the use of other available tools such as dermatoscopy. On the contrary, it is another tool that provides useful information, invisible to the clinical eye and that confirms, discards or supports the diagnosis of the treating physician. High-resolution ultrasound is accurate, accessible, and inexpensive compared to other diagnostic methods.
This article reviews its use, findings and advantages in some of the most common benign dermatological pathologies.
