Abstract

The longitudinal melanonychia is a common manifestation of melanocytic lesions of the nail matrix. Nevertheless, nonmelanocytic rare causes have been described. We present the case of a patient with a longitudinal melanonychia in a fingernail caused by squamous cell carcinoma in situ of the nail matrix and a review of the literature on the subject
