Young man with a painless nodule on the ear, what is your diagnosis?
Keywords:
cyst, ear cartilage, ear auricleAbstract
The auricular pseudocyst is a rare and asymptomatic condition, described mainly in young and adult men. It can be seen as a painless nodule in the ear. The reopening of the planes inside the cartilage tissue due to lymphatic dilatation in the surrounding tissue could be the most likely causal mechanism, and the repeated minor trauma is a requirement for its development. We did not observe any epithelial lining intra-cartilaginous cavities filled with mucinous material. The presence of erythrocytes inside the cavities can induce the misdiagnosis of haemangioma.
