Abstract

Acanthosis nigricans is an entity where there is a velvety texture with symmetrical hyperpigmentation of the skin. It may be a benign such as those associated with obesity and, especially, with diabetes, or a malignant condition such as a paraneoplasic syndrome. Gastric cancer presents with the greatest association with this condition.
