Manifestaciones mucocutáneas de la quimioterapia y la radioterapia

Los diferentes agentes de la quimioterapia son utilizados para el tratamiento de las enfermedades linfoproliferativas, la leucemia, los tumores sólidos y algunas enfermedades inflamatorias mediadas inmunológicamente.
Las complicaciones mucocutáneas se ven comúnmente en asociación con la administración de estos medicamentos. Aunque estas complicaciones rara vez amenazan la vida, sí pueden causar trastornos emocionales en los pacientes, como la presencia de alopecia, la hiperpigmentación o la morbilidad ocasionada por la estomatitis. Ocasionalmente pueden producir toxicidad sistémica. El propósito de esta revisión es discutir estas reacciones mucocutáneas, que son relativamente específicas para varios agentes quimioterapéuticos. Además, se describen al final los efectos secundarios de la radioterapia.
