El Pioderma Gangrenoso (PG) es una enfermedad ulcerativa de la piel que a pesar de haber sido descrita desde 1930, aún no se ha elucidado su etiopatogenia, siendo las teorías de tipo autoinmune las que más se acercan a su origen. Aunque en un 40-50% de los casos se ecuentra limitado a la piel, es frecuente su asociación con enfermedad inflamatoria intestinal, enfermedades de carácter hepático, reumatológico, inmunológico o hematológico. El diagnóstico se basa exclusivamente en la presentación clínica y la evolución de la enfermedad ya que no existe una prueba de laboratorio espe cífica, y la histopatología sólo es sugestiva pero no confirmatoria. Los tratamientos del PG incluyen una amplia variedad de modalidades terapéuticas que pueden ser clasificadas como locales y sistémicas, siendo los corticoesteroides orales el pilar del tratamiento.
