Tratamiento de úlceras en miembros inferiores con ultrasonido

Presentamos un estudio clínico-experimental, doble ciego, controlado, en 58 pacientes con diagnóstico de úlceras en miembros inferiores (venosa, arterial o mixta), a quienes además del tratamiento convencional (acetato de aluminio más óxido de zinc tópicos) se les asignó secuencialmente a dos grupos, para recibir o no, tratamiento con ultrasonido, con emisión de energía intermitente a dosis de 0.5 W/cm semanalmente y durante 12 semanas, observándose como resultado final una mejoría marcada en el área de las úlceras venosas tratadas con US, con respecto a las úlceras mixtas y arteriales, tratadas de la misma forma, que mostraron empeoramiento. La mejoría se ve más claramente en las úlceras venosas 4.99 cm. Los datos anteriores no fueron estadísticamente significativos debido a la pérdida de pacientes, por lo cual planteamos la posibilidad de realizar otro estudio en una población de pacientes con úlceras venosas pequeñas.
