Abstract

Cutaneous leishmaniasis is an endemic tropical parasitic disease with a wide worldwide distribution, it can present atypical forms that simulate other dermatoses making diagnosis difficult and late, which can result in treatment resistance; this is more frequent in chronic forms in which chronicity added to the possible failure of an initial treatment can completely change the initial appearance of the lesions. Although it has been widely described in the Old World, it has become increasingly relevant in the New World, due to a growing number of cases reported. We present a case series of chronic cutaneous leishmaniasis from different geographical areas of Colombia, that were evaluated in health brigades in recent years and in which the clinical diagnosis was a challenge.
