Abstract

Tropical verrucous syndrome comprises various cutaneous and, occasionally, extracutaneous infectious entities, which generate chronic granulomatous reactions and have a wide distribution worldwide in tropical and subtropical regions. Methodology: Case report. Results and discussion: Diagnoses can be challenging and confused with each other, which is more common between sporotrichosis, the subcutaneous fungal infection, and leishmaniasis, the cutaneous, mucosal, and visceral parasitic infection, due to their clinical and epidemiological similarities. Furthermore, given the pathophysiology of both entities, they can simultaneously coinfect the same patient, which makes diagnosis and therapeutic response difficult and makes it necessary to use different diagnostic methods to differentiate them. Below, a case of tropical verrucous syndrome caused by the confection of sporotrichosis and leishmaniasis is presented.
