Abstract

A twenty-seven years old woman presented linear erythematous placques of her abdomen which clinically suggested morphea. The skin biopsy showed no lesion with the hematoxilin-eosin stain. The orcein stain showed absence of elastic fibers in the mid dermis. A diagnosis of middermal elastolisis was made, an entity of unknown etiology, included among the group of “invisible dermatosis”, in which there are important clinical findings but the histopathology is unremarkable or suggests normal skin. Proper clinico-pathological correlation is mandatory to establish a diagnosis of these diseases.
