La Sarcoidosis es una enfermedad granulomatosa pobremente entendida a pesar de los avances en inmunopatología. Se caracteriza por un aumento en la respuesta celular inmune en los sitios involucrados. Puede afectar casi cualquier órgano siendo los pulmones, los nodulos linfáticos intratorácicos, los ojos y la piel, los tejidos más comúnmente comprometidos. Tiene divesas presentaciones clínicas y una historia natural variable.
La enfermedad requiere tratamiento, solo si se producen síntomas significativos o hay evidencia de daño progresivo de los órganos involucrados. La resolución espontánea es común. Los corticoesteroides siguen la base del tratamiento aunque su utilidad se restringe a mejorar los síntomas y los trastornos fisiológicos producidos por la enfermedad, sin lograr su curación.
Debido a la reciente presentación en nuestro Servicio de Dermatología de varios pacientes a quienes se les diagnosticó Sarcoidosis con compromiso de varios órganos debido a sus lesiones cutáneas, he querido realizar una revisión del tema.
